Terms of Use
Before downloading or using any voicebanks or associated characters that are part of the AE UTAU Series, please read these usage terms.
If anything is unclear or you would like to gain permission to have an exception made on any of these rules for you, please contact Aërendyll directly. (Please refer to the Links page for contact information.) Exceptions to the rules will be made on a case-by-case basis for specific works only. Permission obtained for one work does not transfer to other works, even if said works are made by creator(s) who have previously received permission.

Voicebank Rules
- Selling any of the AE UTAU series voicebanks is strictly forbidden.
- When using any voicebank, please visibly provide the name of the voicebank, the release version (e.g. CV v1.0) and the creator's name (Aërendyll) in the credits section(s). (If the ë is impossible to include, spelling Aërendyll as "Aerendyll" will suffice too.)
- The AE UTAU series voicebanks are not allowed to be redistributed publicly without prior permission from their creator. Private distribution is allowed, provided the voicebank is unaltered from how it was downloaded.
- Oto.ini configuration files are allowed to be altered or made from scratch and can be freely distributed without having to seek prior permission.
- The WAV files included in any of the AE UTAU series voicebanks are not allowed to be publicly distributed or included in downloadable virtual instruments without prior permission of their creator (Aërendyll).
This includes, but is not limited to: UTAU voicebanks, soundfonts, VST(i)s, sample packs, etc. - The WAV files included in any of the AE UTAU series voicebanks are allowed to be included in unencrypted game projects, though encrypting them is highly encouraged.
- Conversion of AE UTAU series voicebank WAV files to other sound formats, such as .AIFF, .MP3 and .OGG is allowed, but only for private use or use in games.
- 18+ audio content is allowed to be created only with voicebanks that resemble adults and have their age set as 18 or over.
- 18+ audio content is forbidden to be made with voicebanks that are intended to resemble the voice of minors. When in doubt, please check the lyrics of the song and the voicebank in question for information on the age the voice is meant to resemble.
(NOTE: The characters associated with certain voicebanks might have their intended age changed for specific voicebanks, so please check each individual voicebank regardless of associated character.) - Voicebanks are allowed to be used for voice acting purposes, including, but not limited to: HANASU/Talkloid, audio dramas, game dialogue or voice sound effects, etc. All other rules still apply.
General Character Rules
- There is no obligation to stick to personality as described by the character's creator. However, the General Character, Derivative Character and Character-specific rules still apply.
- When publishing videos featuring the AE series' UTAU characters, please visibly provide the name of the character and the creator's name (Aërendyll - can be alternatively spelled as Aerendyll). Please put these in the description(s) and/or credits section(s) of any published works.
- 18+ content is allowed to be created with characters that resemble adults and have their age set as 18 or over.
- 18+ art is not allowed for characters that resemble minors. Drawing older versions of said characters in 18+ art is only okay if they are clearly depicted as being an adult.
- Explicit 18+ content is not allowed to be of a violent nature. Rape, explicit gore, etc. are forbidden.
- Permission to draw characters associated with voicebanks, write stories featuring them, making them characters in games, etc. is not needed, as long as all General Character, Derivative Character and Character-specific rules are adhered to.
- No romantic pairings using one or more AE UTAU series characters are endorsed as canon under any circumstances.
- Permission to roleplay as any AE UTAU series character is not required. However, please stick to the General Character, Derivative Character and Character-specific rules.
Derivative Character And Voice Editing Rules
- Audio edits from existing audio materials like songs or voice acting renders that only change pitch or put filters over the audio, like Pitchloids, Nightcore, Chipmunk, etc. are not allowed. Please edit the pitch using UTAU's gender flag instead (g0 being the default value, g-100 the lowest and g100 the highest).
- Derivative characters are allowed to be made, but are still subject to the General Character rules and to Character-Specific rules, if these are applicable to the source character.
E.g.: Specific rules for Mahou Yuki also count for Mahou Yuki derivatives, unless otherwise noted. - Derivative characters that are meant to resemble minors and/or are of minor age are not allowed to be depicted in 18+ situations.
Characters that e.g. look like children, but are stated to be 500 years old, still fall under this rule. - Voicebanks are allowed to be used to sing or voice act for a character not officially associated with said voicebank, but have to be noted as using a voice not officially associated with said character. This counts for both characters owned by the creator of the work and for characters owned by others.
E.g.: Using Gwen Prince as a voice source for a song sung from the perspective of Ash Ketchum from Pokémon does not officially link Gwen to Ash Ketchum.
Character-specific Rules
- The character Mahou Yuki and her associated voicebanks are not allowed to be used for romantic and/or 18+ content involving male characters. Female and non-binary characters are allowed. (Yuki genderbends are exempt from this rule.)
Commercial Use Rules
- To obtain permission for using any character and/or voicebank in any type of commercial work, please contact Aërendyll directly.
- Commercial use permission does not transfer to other works of the same creator(s) if these have not also been approved.
- Doujin works that can be bought, but do not make profit and only charge to make up for production costs are exempt from needing permission.
- Works where all profits are donated to charity are not seen as commercial use and thus exempt from needing permission.
